R. Patrick Smith
Patrick Smith has been in private practice in the Upstate since 2000, emphasizing Social Security disability, workers’ compensation, personal injury, complex litigation, and construction litigation.
He represents injured people as well as businesses in state and federal courts. He also represents owners, design professionals, subcontractors, general contractors, and material suppliers before state and federal courts and arbitration panels. He has represented hundreds of disabled individuals in Social Security hearings before administrative law judges in the area and throughout the United States.
A 2000 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Patrick is admitted to the South Carolina Bar, U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR). He is a contributing author of the South Carolina Construction Law Desk Book.
